Jul 25, 2008 - I'm looking forward to the outcome also. Don't know much about growing pumpkins so I'll let mother nature take over.
webcajun Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - I'm kind of in between crops right now. The okra is the only thing really producing, and I mean producing, right now. Last check I had picked and cut up over 300 lbs.
webcajun Says:
Jul 25, 2008 - It's my first real attempt at growing pumpkins so we'll have to see how they do.

Jul 25, 2008 - you know, I had a store bought cantaloupe, and i took the seeds out, told my son to go throw them in the compost pile, and he mistakenly threw them in my tomatoe bed..well guess what i have growing like weeds there now?!Suprised the you know what outta me, because I didnt expect them to come up...they went from the inside guts to the dirt and boom! plants tons of em..you think they will actually produce melons?

Jul 26, 2008 - You've got the perfect voice to make a good story narrator. And the garden looks great!
webcajun Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Sometime last year I threw some seeds out the door of my shop and guess what ..... this year I had a vine to come up and it made about a doz. or more cantaloupe. Half of the Cantaloupe I plant in the garden this year were from seeds I collected last year. You'll be able to tell if yours will make in about 6 weeks you should start seeing some small ones.
webcajun Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - It's been very hot and dry the last month or so, had to water just about every week. Watering is fine but a good slow rain seems to help so much more.
webcajun Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - You're much too kind mon cher.

OhItsJustMe2 Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - There is nothing better to water a garden with than rain. The plants just seem to do so much better.
beutifullady Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - WOW!! I cant believe how much bigger your tomatoes get. The frost kills mine in late september.
webcajun Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - Those big plants you see in the video were never side dressed because I didn't want them to get as big as last year. If I could have stood them up they would have been 6-8 feet tall. It was a mess trying to get all that out of the cages. I am side dressing the fall tomatoes (planted in late June) hoping to get a large harvest of late tomatoes. These should really grow.
webcajun Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - If we want rocks we have to buy them from you folks in the Ozarks. LOL
webcajun Says:
Jul 27, 2008 - Thanks

Aug 6, 2008 - OMG, a bushel of okra a day!!! And I thought *I* liked okra, LOL. You must have 3 or 4 freezers full of garden veggies. My okra is now close to 4 feet tall. I'll probably get my first small mess off of it in about 5 days. Then starting a few days after that the way it looks I should be eating okra almost every day till frost:))) And putting up some as well.
webcajun Says:
Aug 6, 2008 - I sell my extra vegetables to help pay expenses. I've since quit picking the 400 ft. row and now letting it go into seed for next year's crop. All I have left in the freezer is about 10 lbs. I have a 50 ft. row that will start producing in a month or so for fresh okra this fall. "Gumbo Season" Our local radio station KLIL puts out "Gumbo Alerts" at the first sign of a cool snap. NO JOKE. Just got to love living out in the country.
