Two nice and for different worlds tractors, a 1965ish Cockshutt diesel tractor, and a basically homemade forklift with a Chrysler 318 V-8. It flies!

Jul 25, 2008 - It would do well at the Forklift Winternationals. Actually it spins the tires quite readily in low range. The red tractor was a quite detailed project. Not nearly as fast as the forklift though.

Aug 24, 2008 - MY friend has a cockshutt 540 ,I think 1957 or so, It idles fine but bogs in gear.Can you give us an idea on the screw settings on the carb as well. carb filter was dirty but still runs the same after cleaning and carb kit. thx

Aug 29, 2008 - Lifts too well. More counterweight has to be added, the back comes off the ground sometimes, you really have to be careful when lifting very heavy stuff!

Aug 29, 2008 - First things first, there must be a source to take vacuum readings from. Please make sure you have no manifold leaks or anything like this. When put in gear, the carb can't keep up with vacuum leaks, it will bog under load. How are the float settings? A minor possibility is point gap. Too little dwell, or too much, will lead to a weak spark under load on these, whether magneto or ordinary style. Screws are roughly 2 turns from closed, please get me carb tag # and I can verify for you.
